Folkstyle Singlets are the singlets worn by the "School" and "College" teams across the United states. Ninety percent of the singlets manufactured in the USA and worn by wrestlers are Folkstyle singlets.
These singlets are also called "High-Cut" singlets because they can be cut no lower than 4" under the arm-pit. In addition, the "scoop", both front and back, can go no lower than 4" to 6" from the base of the neck.
Folkstyle singlets are characterized by various school colors and specific school designs. Folkstyle singlets are usually customized to suit particular school designs and special Club colors and logos.

Freestyle Wrestling

Freestyle Singlets are universally worn by wrestlers in all countries. They are characterized by design limitations: 1) In color they are limited to dominant red or dominant blue. Their design can be modified slightly as long as red or blue is dominant. 2) Freestyle singlets can be cut as low as six inches under the armpit. 3)The Freestyle scoop, then, can go as low as 12" front or back.
Freestyle singlets are currently designed to FILA specifications. FILA specifications, however, seem to be individually interpreted, depending on tournament officials and tournament location. It is important to check with the Freestyle Manager's dress code if you have doubts.

Reversible Singlets
(open)Reversible Singlets are Freestyle orientated. They are dominant Red on one side and dominant Blue on the other. Obviously, Reversible singlets are designed to save money. When a wrestler competes in a freestyle tournament he is assigned a Red or a Blue singlet color by draw. He has no choice, but must wear the color he is assigned. A reversible singlet makes the choice easy. . . one side is Red, one side is Blue. Let's wrestle!

Women's Singlets

While all our suppliers market Women's Singlets, ONLY MATMAN offers women's cut singlets in all 8 stock models. Matman is truly women friendly. They will sew one (1) singlet in any of their stock styles for NO EXTRA CHARGE. They extend this curtesy to both folkstyle and freestyle singlets.
